“Hey do you know where the lab is located, I’m new here.” George asks.
“Yeah, it’s down the hall and to your left. However, if you’ve been assigned to clean the area you must be escorted by a supervisor. They don’t allow janitors inside by themselves. You want me to call someone?” The worker asks.
“No that won’t be necessary, just wanted to know in the future. Someone told me that I will have to clean the lab sooner or later.” George answers.
“Alright man, I’ll see you around.” The janitor replies and returns to mopping the floor.
After getting the instructions from the janitor, he heads down the hall and turns to his left. George can see a couple of guards in front of the door. He also sees an electrical room where he can hide the bodies once he puts them to sleep.
When he sees nobody else is around, he gets onto the wall and peeks around the corner avoiding eye contact with the guards. Sweating a little bit, he aims his dart gun when the two look at each other. He shoots a dart to one of the guards.
“Hey Matt I had a question…” The guard says before he falls asleep.
“Daniel, hey Daniel. What the hell…” The other guard says before he is shot by a sleeping dart.

“Sleep tight you two, oh crap a camera! I didn’t see that, it would be too suspicious if I tried to move the men in the room with that camera on. I wonder if the electrical room has a DVR.” He says once he sees the situation.
He notices he has a set of keys in his pocket and finds the one to the electrical room. Opening the room, he sees the DVR is in the back. When he gets to the DVR he sees four cameras on the screen and he disconnects the camera showing the door to the lab.
“There goes that camera, but I think I should erase the recording on this puppy.” He says.

George selects yes and recording has stopped on the DVR.
“Nice, now I just gotta make sure my old ass doesn’t get spotted.” He says.
After disabling the DVR, he grabs one of the guards and takes him into the electrical room. He tries to get the next guard, but another security guard is patrolling the hallway. He debates whether to take the guard out, but then decides against it figuring he wants fewer bodies around.
The guard doesn’t turn the corner towards the door to the lab, probably because he assumes the two guards are there by the door. George is relieved that he doesn’t have to take another body out. Once the guard leaves the hall, he grabs and drags the other guard into the electrical room. He turns off the lights and locks the door.
Using the keycard he got from Anthony’s room, he enters the hallway leading to the lab. In the lab area, he has to keep a low profile as he remembers that no janitors are allowed in the area. Plus anyone he takes out, he’ll have to leave them lying down as he doesn’t have time to waste. As he walks slowly through the hallway, he spots a couple of scientists talking to each other. So he decides to go through the other hallway and sees a couple of lab areas.
George crawls under the windows so that he isn’t spotted by the scientists from the window. A guard turns the corner and makes eye contact with George. In a moment of panic, he shoots a dart putting the guard to sleep. To his relief the guard falling on the floor doesn’t bring much attention and no one goes to investigate the fallen guard.
Sleeping Darts: 11
“With so many labs here, I wonder how I will get a sample of the ‘Raven Hawk’ and what it even looks like.” He says in his head.
That’s when he realizes that he’ll have to enter each lab room and investigate them individually. George spots the door for the first lab room and enters slowly. He shoots the scientist with a dart putting him to sleep and looks out for any guards. After seeing the coast is clear, he checks the room carefully for any sign of the ‘Raven Hawk’ vaccine. However, all he sees is empty test tubes and common liquids.
“Crap there are so many lab rooms, I’m bound to be caught. Hmm… a locker room, perhaps I can ‘borrow’ a uniform. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.” He spots a locker room in the back.
He heads towards the locker room and shoots a guard heading there just to make sure.
Sleeping Darts: 10
Once he gets to the locker room, he finds himself in the showers. A few scientists are taking showers and a few are walking around. He knows that he can’t take a chance by using his dart gun as it would attract too much attention. Instead he looks for his opportunity to get into the actual locker room. Realizing that the amount of traffic isn’t going to calm down, he’s forced to find another way into the lockers.
He spots an open vent on the far side of the hall and decides to enter hoping that it will lead him to the locker room. By the look of it someone was working on cleaning the vents. With the temperature being rather cool for the time of year the air conditioning is off. He enters the shaft and crawls through until he gets to the end. He’s able to feel a small draft from the top, but that is simply the shaft leading up to the roof. When he gets to the end of the shaft he lands right inside the locker room.
“Hey you what are you doing here…” A scientist says when he spots George.
He chokes the scientist, puts him to sleep, and then says, “I’m sure you won’t mind if I borrow your clothes.”
Picked up a locker key. This opens locker 35.
Heading to locker 35, he opens it and finds a spare scientist jacket.
Picked up a Scientist Jacket. This should make it easier for me to blend in and find the “Raven Hawk” vaccine.
Seeing the room is clear, he changes into the jacket quickly and sticks the janitor’s uniform into the locker. He walks out casually and says hi to the staff to make it look natural. When he gets out of the locker room, he heads to the second lab room and finds a list of secret projects on a piece of paper. The room is empty as well, giving him the freedom to snoop around.
Secret Projects that we will work on this year…
-Ivy
-Frogger
-Lizarda
-Web Spinner
- Hot Dog
-Tyrant
-Nemesis
-Plant 50
While there is a list, it doesn’t go into much detail into what they are. His best guess is that they are trying to test on animals and plants. The name that strikes him the most is Nemesis. It simply doesn’t sound like a vaccine that is friendly, but without any hard evidence it’s just a theory. He finds nothing else in the second room, so he heads to the third room.
A guard approaches him and looks at him suspiciously. He asks, “Hey are you new here?”
“Yes I am, why?” George answers.
“Some weird things have been taking place here. The two guards that are supposed to be guarding the door are not there. I just been told a scientist is down in the locker room, I suspect foul play. Have you seen anything?”
“No I haven’t, but I’ll keep an eye out for anything.” He answers the guard.
“Very well, carry on and remain on alert.” The guard lets George go on his way.
“I gotta be careful, red flags are going up.” He says to himself.
He enters the third lab room and sees a blue liquid labeled “Raven Hawk”. There is another scientist in the room, so he car
efully takes the liquid and sticks it in his shirt pocket making sure the other scientist doesn’t see anything.
Picked up the “Raven Hawk” vaccine. Now to get this tested and see what the real composition of this vaccine is.
Seeing the clock has hit five o’clock, the other scientist tells George it’s time to go home and leaves right away.
“That was easier than I thought, now I just need to get this sample tested by my scientist friend and I’ll find out what it really is. Now to get my briefcase and get out of here.”
He takes a quick picture of the laboratory with his mini Polaroid instant camera just in case the sample comes out positive as an actual virus. He leaves the laboratory quickly and takes the stairs to the 8th floor maintenance room. The janitor is still asleep and he grabs his briefcase. After making sure he has everything, he leaves the building casually even saying bye to the doorman. He hails a cab back to the hotel room where he is staying and calls his brother.
“Hey Harry, looks like big brother did it indeed. I got the sample!” George says.
“You are one crazy son of a bitch, but that is a huge piece of evidence you just got. Now you gotta get your geek friend Dave to test it and you’re in business. Sometimes you can go too far, but…” George cuts off his brother.
“It helps me get far in my career, right? No need to say it, I should be there tomorrow. I got the perfect place to hide this sample so TSA won’t spot it and question me.”
“George, you should have worked for MI6 instead. It seems you have the skills to be a spy.” Harry compliments his brother.
“Thanks, I’ll see you tomorrow.” George hangs up the phone.
A few minutes later, he gets a phone call. Looking at the caller ID, it reads “Hybrid Corporation”. He becomes nervous as he might have been spotted, but it could just be Anthony giving him thanks for the interview.
He picks up the phone and says “Hello Terry Bond here, may I help you…”
Chapter 2
May 13, 2007
George sees that he receives a call from the “Hybrid Corporation” and he says hello.
“Hello Terry Bond, its Anthony. I just wanted to thank you for the interview and I’m happy to see that you’re not subjective like other interviewers.” Anthony says cordially.
“Subjective?” George asks.
“Yeah, other reporters think that we’re coming to Cypress Hills for malicious purposes. It could be your small town is full of small-minded people who believe that we’re coming to use them as guinea pigs. I’m glad to see that at least you see both sides of the coin.” Anthony responds.
What should George say?
1. I agree with you on that, the town’s people can be so gullible. (Passive)
2. I wouldn’t say that, but I wish to do my job properly as a non-biased journalist. (Neutral)
3. You’re full of shit! You only say that is because you got something to hide, I’m going to watch you carefully! (Aggressive)
After thinking for a second he goes with option 2.
“I wouldn’t say that, but I wish to do my job properly as a non-biased journalist.” George replies using the neutral response.
“I can see you take your job seriously. I’ll let your agency know if I want to do anymore interviews. Does that sound good?” Anthony asks.
“Sure, no problem.” He replies.
“Goodbye Mr. Bond, have a safe trip back.” Anthony says bye and hangs up.
After the phone call, he begins to pack his stuff in preparation for his flight back the next day. In his luggage, he begins to find a place inside to store the “Raven Hawk” vaccine. He hopes that testing the vaccine will give him the answers that he wants. He heads to bed and prepares for his flight for the next day.
May 15, 2007
After getting back to New York and taking the day off to rest, George heads to his scientist friend in Downtown Brooklyn. Taking his White Ford Mustang to the Boreum Hill section of Brooklyn, he enters his friend’s house.
“Hey George, what a great day we’re having. The pure blue skies with no clouds, wind is at 5 MPH, and the temperature is above average…” He is cut off by George.
“Can it Dave, will you? Besides I got an important assignment for you.” George says cutting the small talk as the two head inside.
The two head towards the basement of the brownstone house and enter Dave’s small laboratory.
Dave is an ex-forensic scientist for a lab that worked with the NYPD during murder crimes. Since retirement though, he has moved on to studying bio-chemistry while trying to find a cure for some of the most severe sicknesses out there.
“Hey Dave, I want you to test this for me.” He says.
“What is that?” Dave asks.
“The ‘Raven Hawk’ vaccine straight from Hybrid.” George answers.
“How did you get that?” Dave asks in shock.
“Let’s say I have a way of sneaking around…”
“You’re crazy George! You’re a dead man if you get caught.”
“I might be a crazy old man, but I’m not stupid. Besides no one suspects I have this. Listen I have reason to believe that this is not actually a vaccine. I believe that nothing good will come out of Hybrid visiting us.”
“You seem to think so? What proof do you have?” Dave asks.
“For now none, but out of all the areas they could have gone to build a hospital, why choose Cypress Hills?”
“Wow George, you do have a point there. Cypress Hills is considered the goody too shoes area of Brooklyn. It’s hard to get any publicity there other than bombing a house or killing a cop and even that is difficult.”
“Anyway, I want you to see what this contains so I can make a report about Hybrid. I want to see who they really are. For the life of me I can’t trust those people and the residents in Cypress Hills don’t trust them either.”
After the conversation, George hands the “Raven Hawk” vaccine to Dave. Dave puts it into his machine and boots up his machine. After about 10 minutes, a printout is printed for the two to read.
Results of test:
The results of the tests have determined that this is a substance that changes the way the body functions. It’s known as “Raven Hawk” and it was developed by the Hybrid Corporation. Raven Hawk contains many amino acids and proteins within the composition. However, the substance is too complex in nature to be determined using the preliminary testing methods. Further testing is required.
“Hmm… seems the composition is too complex for even my machine to unscramble. Either we’re dealing with the next great work of science or…” Dave says.
“The next devilish substance that will plunge mankind to the abyss.” George finishes Dave’s statement.
“Listen George, I’m going to have to keep this with me for awhile until I can get some solid results. I’m going to have to run some bio-hazard tests and other tests such as…”
“I get it poindexter! That sounds good, how long you think it will take?”
“I’m not sure about that to be honest. It could be a couple of weeks to a couple of months. I’ll do my best to get results fast.”
“Ok, keep me posted. Alright I gotta be going.” George says as he walks away and says bye to Dave.
George drives off and returns home as he ends up with more questions than answers. Then he remembers there is a meeting in Woodhull Hospital. However that isn’t until July and perhaps by then he might have answers to what the Raven Hawk virus is.
May 27, 2007
George decides to put the story away for a while and focus on his day job at the local Junior High School. He sees the 2nd floor hallway light is blown out and grabs a florescent lightblub from the utility closet.
The school is only two stories high and houses 500 kids due to the small nature of the town. The town is so small and quiet that it’s like paradise in what is otherwise a rowdy borough of Brooklyn.
Holding the lightblub in his hand, George begins to remove
the old lightblub until he hears a girl call his name loudly.
“George!” The girl calls.
George drops the old lightblub and turns towards the girl ready to scold her until he realizes who it is.
“Maria! What are you doing here? It’s 2 in the afternoon, early day?” He asks when he sees it was one of his favorite students from a graduating class.
“Yeah, early day. Parent teacher conference day.” She replies while laughing.
Maria is a graduate of IS 302 and was one of George’s favorite students. He looks at her as the daughter he never had after raising two rotten sons.
“I hope that means you’re passing.” He asks.
“I am, just came to see how you’re doing.” Maria answers.
“Ah… the same old thing just a different day. Have you met Angel yet, he’s a junior in your school.”
“Nah, I barely bump into anyone outside my age to be honest. I’m sure he’s a cute boy and pretty popular I heard. He just hasn’t found anyone yet based on the fact I see him by himself going home.” She replies.
“That’s where you come in!” George jokily says.
“Yeah right, you think he’ll go out with a freshman like me?”
“Well my wife is 10 years younger than me.”
“But you’re old George.” Maria laughs.
“True, I’m on my third wife.” George and Maria laugh.
The conservation is cutoff when one of Maria’s friends from her part of town says hi. George goes back to work and replaces the lightblub. He tests the blub and is relieved when it turns on. Ready to leave for the day, he overhears the girls talking.
Maria and her friend begin to talk about how upset they are because the upper part of the local park is closed to construction. Then it hits him, he just took a jog there only a week ago.
“Hmm… construction. Maybe I should take a closer look there, could just be renovating the reservoir. Then again, Hybrid could be involved with this as well. Maybe I should pay a visit there.” He decides to head to the park after work.
Getting into his jogging outfit, he jogs towards the local park called Highland Park. When he enters the park, it’s a normal day with the kids playing in the playground along with beautiful weather. The skies might be blue, but George is seeing black as he is disturbed by the sudden construction taking place.
