Note from the Author
This story is completely fictitious in nature. Nothing in this book such as characters, places, events, and story represent my true beliefs. I’m a caring person who decided to write this book for pure entertainment only. I do not wish to offend anyone with this story. Be warned, if you hate zombies or have a weak body for blood or gore this is not the read for you. For everyone else prepare for the 3rd installment of the Nightmare that awaits Maria, who is the girlfriend of our hero, Angel. This time though, the videogame elements like those enjoyed in the Resident Evil gaming series will be found within the story.
Thank you for those who have this purchased a copy of this book, you’ll surely enjoy if you read as it is, a book for entertainment. If you read my previous works, you now know that I take enjoyment in entertaining you, the reader.

A Word from Maria
Maria’s Voice – September 10, 2013:
“It all started as an ordinary day in September in my hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Despite the events of the second adventure being nothing more than a nightmare, Hybrid has laid their iron fist on my hometown of Cypress Hills. While my current location of Cypress Hills was safe, a wall had to be built separating the area from the rest of East New York. The reason, the underground laboratory which was destroyed managed to spawn an army of zombies and creatures. At best, my best friend’s home has turned into a disaster zone filled with Hybrid’s sick experiments.
Where I lived was deemed safe for a whole year since the events of the last outbreak. This particular day I went to see my family in my hometown of Cypress Hills. When I got there, I realized that all was not well. Despite the fact I knew that Hybrid was behind the madness, no one believed me and no one had the guts to indict or step up to Hybrid. Eventually that lack of strength would lead to the destruction of everything!
I suppose my hometown had to suffer the consequences, after all the police chief of my hometown precinct sold his soul to the devil. However, there would be no forgiveness to the town and its residents. What I didn’t know though was that this would be known as the last escape for me. My hometown would never remain the same…
It’s true that they say when the wheels of justice begin to turn, nothing can stop it. It was Brooklyn’s last chance and my last chance, my last escape. When I got to my parents house, I saw the worse. My entire family was eaten alive, from my mother and father to my siblings. The only one who was safe was Leslie as she was out of town, lest the zombie invasion got to her location as well. Then it happened…”
Act 1 - Survival
Chapter 1
As Maria walks away from her childhood home a swarm of zombies head towards her from the north coming from Highland Park. She runs towards Fulton Street and continues heading east as zombies begin to pop out of the alleys.
***
Police cars can be heard heading towards the scene and the swat team has been summoned as well. When the police and swat team get out of their vehicles to face the zombies, they quickly realize that they are out numbered.
“Guys, shoot to kill!” One of the officers armed with a shotgun screams out to everyone.
After that, helicopters that are carrying HBCS soldiers or the Hybrid Biohazard Countermeasure Service as it stands for arrive on scene to help out. These guys were hired as mercenaries by Hybrid to try and quell the out of control situation that has expanded into the other side of Brooklyn. The NYPD and HBCS team up to take on the zombies. At first they’re able to back the zombies up, but a wave of zombies come from behind and begin to make mince meat out of the men.
The number of the NYPD and HBCS begin to dwindle fast. Meanwhile a couple of HBCS men find themselves in an apartment building looking for any survivors.
“Hello, is anyone here? We’re here to save you, if you’re there please answer!” One of the soldiers screams out.
“Hey Ryan, I hear a door opening. Perhaps it’s a survivor.” The other HBCS soldier says.
As the door opens, the two of them keep their assault rifles pointed just in case. When the door opens the room inside is dark. Ryan turns on his flashlight and the two of them begin to enter the room wondering what they would find inside. Entering the room, the two men find a woman on top of another man who is clearly dead.
“Hey miss, we’re here to escort you to safety. Come with us, we won’t hurt you.” Ryan says calmly.
“What is she doing?” Ryan’s partner asks.
“No it can’t be she’s eating that man! Oh my God let’s get the hell out of here!” Ryan screams realizing that woman is a zombie.
As the two try to escape they are surrounded by more zombies who have made the room their new home. The two men try to shoot their way out, but end up being eaten alive by the horde of zombies.
“Nooooo!!!” Ryan screams before he’s eaten alive.

Maria runs through Fulton Street until she arrives at the corner of Fulton St and Norwood Ave. All of a sudden the swarm of zombies increases and begins to surround her from all sides. At first she frantically looks for a way out, until she sees the door to the bargain store. Sh
e pushes it until it opens. Then she gets inside, and quickly closes the door.
September 10, 2013
Twilight…
The monsters have over taken the city, but somehow…
I’m still alive!
Where could Angel be?
She wonders where Angel could be, he did not give her an indication where he could be.
Maria sees a man who is still alive, probably the store manager and says, “Listen, we gotta get outta here!”
“What… What you think you’re talking about? I just lost my daughter out there! How dare you tell me to go outside?” The man replies angrily.
“I’m sorry about your daughter, but there isn’t going to be any rescue. We’re on own here, we have to get out of here!” She yells trying to knock some sense into the man’s head.
“No! I rather starve to death than be eaten by one of those undead bastards! Now if you want to go out there and risk your life that’s your business. Now leave me alone!” The manager answers angrily as he decides to lock himself in the manager’s office.
Maria is unable to get inside and decides to investigate the rest of the store without him. After finding nothing in the store itself other than many dead bodies she enters the maintenance office. Upon entering the office she finds several things.
Picked up a Reloading Tool. Use this to convert gunpowder into usable ammo.
Picked up 2 Gunpowder A Jars.
Picked up “Manual for Reloading Tool”
She takes a minute to read the manual:
“The Reloading tool is used to convert gunpowder you pick up to usable ammo. Here’s a basic idea on what the different gunpowder types convert to. The jar of gunpowder A converts to Handgun bullets, gunpowder B converts to shotgun ammo, and gunpowder C converts to grenade rounds. If you combine the 2 or 3 of the same ammo type you will get more of that particular ammo type. In order to use the reloading tool you must find a reloading station to complete the conversion.
Also if you combine different gunpowder types you will also be able to create new ammo types depending on how you mix the gunpowder. Different combinations will yield different results. So you won’t be frustrated on how to create the ammo types, here is a rundown…”
The rest of the manual is ripped off and missing.
“Damn! Just when it was getting to the good part.” She says flustered.
Maria combines the two gunpowder A jars and heads to the reloading station to use her reloading tool. After a minute she gets two packs of handgun bullets.
+40 Handgun Bullets. Handgun ammo: 65
After getting the ammo, she finds a key leading to the back exit of the building. Finding nothing else in the office, she heads out towards the back exit and finds herself in an alleyway. As she exits the alleyway she sees a couple of zombies. Pulling out her pistol she got from Angel, she kills both zombies easily. Continuing down the alleyway she sees a door and more zombies pop out of the door. She kills one of them, but notices 3 more zombies going after her.
Figuring that she needs to save ammo, Maria dives through them and enters the pathway the door lead to. Going down the stairs, she finds herself disappointed.
“Crud, it’s a dead end… Wait a minute...” She says frustrated at first and then spots something.
Picked up Remington Shotgun. Ammo: 7
“This will prove to be rather useful I’m sure.” She says to herself.
Heading back out, she pulls out her shotgun and waits until the three zombies get close together. Once the zombies get close together, she lets it rip. The shell busts through all three zombies and they fall quickly. She sees a gate up ahead and goes though back to the streets. When she gets out she hears screaming coming from the store inside, probably the manager getting eaten alive. While she feels bad, she did warn him to come with her.
Continuing on down towards Atlantic Ave, she finds more zombies. However, she’s able to avoid most of them and makes her way towards Atlantic Ave, which is the main artery of the town. Unlike a normal day where one has to be worried about traffic heading towards them, this time around the cars are either crashed or burned to a crisp. With all the crushed metal, there is only a single path to the other side of town.
Zombies begin to pop out from the cars and attack Maria. One of them actually grabs her and gets a bite off her.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
She’s able to push the zombie away, but the others go after her as well. She’s able to sidestep from the zombies as they go after her. Running away to get room, she pulls out her pistol and begins to shoot the zombies. With her great accuracy she’s able to land head shots killing the zombies instantly. The problem is that she doesn’t realize that her gun is out of bullets in the magazine.
Pistol Ammo: 50
As she backs up, a zombie jumps from the top of a car and lands behind her. She’s able to sense the zombies coming and sees a lead pipe next to her that she can use. However she knows she could use her gun as well even though she doesn’t know she has to reload.
What will Maria do?
Use Lead Pipe
Use Gun
You have selected choice #1.
Maria grabs the lead pipe while avoiding the zombie trying to grab her. Then she performs a leg sweep on the zombie to knock it down and uses the lead pipe to crush the zombies head. The blood coming out of the zombies head cause her to vomit a bit, but she gets over it rather quickly. She gets over the car and ends up on the other side of Atlantic Ave.
When she arrives on the other side, she sees the Atkins Gardens apartment complex along with a horde of zombies. Instead of fighting the zombies, she finds a fire escape is reachable by climbing another car. She gets on the fire escape while the zombies are trying to grab her feet. One of them foes grab her left foot, but she uses her right foot to kick the zombie in the head. The fact she’s wearing her leather boots does help her in dealing a greater impact towards the zombie.
Getting onto the fire escape she finds a couple of green herbs that she can use to heal herself. She uses one of the green herbs to heal herself back to health.
Picked up a Green Herb. Used to heal small wounds.
Maria uses a Green Herb.
Condition: Fine
She continues through the fire escape and heads back down to the courtyard. When she gets to the courtyard she hears someone screaming in the background.
“Who could that be? I better go check it out.”
What Maria doesn’t know is that finding Angel will not be her main task. Instead her main task will be survival!
Chapter 2
She rushes through the courtyard and despite the number of zombies she runs through them. Maria is able to hear gunshots from one of the small apartments to her right. Rushing in through the door that wasn’t locked properly, she sees a familiar face.
“Bill!” Maria screams as she sees Bill being bitten by the zombie.
“Get away!” Bill screams as he shoots the zombie.
After a few bullets, Bill is able to kill off the zombie. Afterwards he falls onto a sofa in the living room. The living room has an ugly green paint job on the walls. All apartments in the complex were painted with the same ugly color. As Maria looks in the room, it looks like the tenant was rather clean as she can tell by the condition of the apartment.
“Hang in there Bill. Why isn’t anyone doing something about this?” Maria asks frantically.
“I didn’t know you were still alive Maria. We aren’t trained for these things you know. Listen, he’s coming for us and we’re both going to die!” Bill says while hyperventilated.
“What are you saying?” Maria asks in confusion.
“You’ll see. He’s after us, the same ones who survived the last outbreak. You see, those rumors of Hybrid trying to cover their tracks are true. Once they get rid of us, they can pass this off as a freak accident. To them we’re best… dead…” Bill says as he walks towards the front entrance.
She decides to st
ay behind to explore the room for any clues or useful items. Next to an ashtray on the coffee table she finds a lighter…
There is a picture under the lighter as well that she looks at. It’s a picture of the bell tower by the Mark’s Brothers funeral with writing on the back.
“A landmark spot: Mark’s Brothers funeral home bell tower. The chopper will be there to pick you up.”
“Hmm… Seems like the person living here must have connections to Hybrid and he was planning to catch a chopper there. I need to make sure I’m there if and when a chopper arrives. However, I should stop by the police station to see if I can get my hand on some fire power. It looks like it will be a long night. ” She says in her head.
Going through the front door as Bill did, she finds herself on Glenmore Ave and Bradford Streets. The police station is on Sutter Ave and Linwood St, which is about a 5 minute walk. However, with this being the part of East New York that was most devastated by the previous outbreak, getting there could prove to be challenging. As she approaches the corner of Linwood Street, she is surrounded by a group of rabid dogs.
Pulling out her pistol she readies herself to shoot the dogs. One of the dogs begins to rush towards her. She’s able to dodge out of the way of the first dog, but the other three begin to run towards her. Rolling to her left she gets out of the two of the three dogs. When she recovers from her roll she lands a perfect head shot on the third dog killing it.
She shoots the other two dogs that have their backs turned, killing them as well. However the last dog is nowhere to be found. She walks carefully forward with her gun drawn just in case the dog is nearby. A growl can be heard and she turns around, but the coast is clear. Then she is attacked from behind by the last dog who scratches her back.
Quickly turning around, she sees the dog in front of her. The dog latches onto her and begins to lick her throat like it was the fresh cut of the day at the supermarket.
“Ugghhh… Damn it got to… get this canine off me… or I’ll be his next meal.” She says to herself holding the dog by the head.
